A short sample

Taken from the free preview.

IELTS General Training Task 1 asks you to write a letter for a stated purpose and recipient. The prompt gives three points to cover. The Writing band descriptors assess task achievement, coherence and cohesion, lexical resource, and grammatical range and accuracy. Tone should suit the recipient and situation and remain appropriate across the response; register labels are useful teaching categories, not separate marking rubrics.
