Introduce the dilemma: career for love vs. money. State personal belief in following passion.
The dichotomy of career choice is often polarized between the pursuit of passion and the necessity of earning a livelihood. I am inclined towards the former, advocating for the pursuit of passion as a career goal.
View: Career is primarily to earn money. Reason 1: Passion careers can be unstable/not provide steady income (artist example). Reason 2: Any job offers security and routine (9-to-5 example).
Those who view a career as a mere means to an end, primarily to secure financial stability, are not without their reasons. One of their primary arguments is the unpredictability of passion-driven careers, which may not always yield a steady income. For instance, an artist might struggle to sell their work initially, thereby facing financial instability. Additionally, they argue that a job, regardless of its nature, provides a sense of security and routine. A 9-to-5 job, for example, ensures a regular paycheck and a structured lifestyle, which can be comforting for many.
View: Pursue passion (author agrees). Reason 1: Happiness from doing what you love (music example). Reason 2: Passion-based careers lead to new ideas/progress (Elon Musk example).
However, despite these valid points, I align myself with those who champion the pursuit of passion. The first argument in favor of this stance is the psychological satisfaction that comes from doing what one loves. A career in music, for instance, might not guarantee a stable income, but the joy of creating and sharing one's art can outweigh the financial uncertainties. Furthermore, passion-driven careers often lead to innovation and progress. Take Elon Musk, for example, his passion for technology and space exploration has led to groundbreaking advancements in these fields, proving that passion can indeed be a powerful motivator.
Summarize main points (earning vs. passion). Restate opinion: following passion is better for rewarding/innovative career.
In conclusion, while the necessity of earning a livelihood presents compelling arguments for choosing a career, the pursuit of passion offers a more fulfilling and potentially innovative path. The psychological satisfaction and the potential for innovation that passion-driven careers provide make them a stronger choice in my view.
