Introduction

Paraphrase the topic: some people think parents should be punished for children's crimes. State strong disagreement and core argument (perpetrator should face consequences).

A viewpoint held by some is that parents should face punitive measures if their children are found to be in violation of the law. I completely disagree with this perspective, as I believe the onus of legal transgressions should fall on the individual who commits them.

Body 1 · View 1

First reason for disagreement: Everyone is responsible for their own actions. Example: Teenager who steals should face punishment.

The first reason for my disagreement is the principle of individual responsibility. In a just society, it is crucial that each person is held accountable for their actions. For instance, if a teenager is caught shoplifting, it is they who made the decision to break the law, and hence, they should bear the consequences.

Body 2 · View 2

Second reason: Parents cannot completely control children, especially older ones. Explanation/Example: Teenagers influenced by peer pressure and society (e.g., underage drinking).

Secondly, it is important to consider that parents cannot exert total control over their children's actions, particularly as they mature. Adolescents are significantly influenced by external factors such as peer pressure and societal norms. An example is the prevalent issue of underage drinking, which is often more influenced by societal expectations than parental guidance.

Body 3 · Opinion

Third reason: It's unfair to punish parents for children's mistakes, even if parents tried their best. Example: Parent teaches about drugs, but child rebels and tries them.

Lastly, the idea of punishing parents for their children's misdemeanors could lead to unjust situations. Parents could face penalties despite their best efforts to instill good values and discipline. For example, a parent may educate their child about the dangers of drug use, yet the child may still choose to experiment due to curiosity or rebellion.

Conclusion

Restate strong disagreement. Summarize main reasons: individual responsibility, external influences on teens, unfairness to parents who tried.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that parents should not be penalized for their children's infractions. This belief is based on the principles of individual responsibility, the recognition of external influences on adolescent behavior, and the potential for injustice when penalizing well-meaning parents.
