The first bar chart illustrates the reasons why a cross-section of 100,000 individuals chose to travel overseas from 1994 to 1998, while the second bar chart presents the preferred destinations of these same individuals over the identical time span.
In general, it can be observed that the majority of people traveled for leisure purposes, and a significant proportion of them chose to visit Western Europe. However, there was a noticeable difference in the popularity of the other destinations.
Looking at the first chart, leisure was the primary reason for travel, accounting for over 70% of the responses. Business and other reasons made up approximately 15% and 10% respectively. Interestingly, the number of people who traveled for study was quite low, at just under 5%.
Turning to the second chart, Western Europe was the most popular destination, attracting more than 40% of travelers. North America and Other Areas each received about 20% of the travelers. Meanwhile, Australasia was the least visited region, with less than 10% of the travelers opting for it.
