The illustration provides information about the percentages of individuals residing in various housing types in three distinct regions of Denmark in 2012.
The most striking point is that the majority of people in all three areas lived in either detached or semi-detached houses, but the proportion varied significantly. Furthermore, the least popular type of housing was terraced houses in all regions.
In more detail, detached houses were the most popular in rural areas, accounting for over half of all homes, while in towns and cities, semi-detached houses were more common, making up approximately 35% and 40% respectively. Interestingly, the proportion of people living in flats was significantly higher in the city, at around 40%, compared to just over 10% in towns and virtually none in rural areas.
The least common type of housing was terraced houses, with less than 10% of people living in such homes in all three areas. In rural areas, this figure was as low as 2%, while in towns and cities it was slightly higher, at around 7% and 9% respectively.
