The pie charts illustrate the changes in the proportions of online retail sales across different sectors in New Zealand over a decade, from 2003 to 2013.
Overall, it is clear that while the Travel sector dominated online sales in 2003, the situation reversed in 2013 with the Film/Music sector taking the lead. Additionally, there was a noticeable increase in the Other sector's share in the market over the ten-year period.
In 2003, Travel accounted for over half of all online sales, at 52%, but this figure significantly dropped to just 28% by 2013. Conversely, the Film/Music sector, which only made up 22% of sales in 2003, saw a substantial rise to 38% in 2013, making it the largest sector for online sales.
The Other sector also experienced growth, increasing from 8% in 2003 to 20% in 2013. However, the Books sector remained relatively stable, with a slight decrease from 18% to 14% over the decade. Meanwhile, the Clothes sector saw a marginal increase from 4% to 6% during the same period.
