The bar chart illustrates the primary concerns of American businesses in 2016.
At first glance, it is evident that the most significant priority for US companies was customer satisfaction, while the least important was environmental responsibility. The remaining priorities varied in importance, with none dominating the others.
Looking at the details, customer satisfaction was the leading priority, with over 80% of businesses ranking it as their top concern. This was followed by employee engagement and product quality, both of which were primary concerns for more than half of the companies surveyed. Notably, employee engagement was slightly more important than product quality, with a difference of around 5%.
On the other hand, environmental responsibility was given the least importance, with less than 20% of businesses considering it a top priority. Corporate social responsibility and cost efficiency were also relatively low priorities, with each being a primary concern for approximately 30% of companies. Interestingly, despite the modern emphasis on sustainability, these results suggest that American businesses in 2016 prioritised immediate business concerns over long-term environmental and social impacts.
