Can you tell me your full name?
Where are you from?
Do you work or are you a student?
Have you visited a farm?
Oh yes, I've had the pleasure of visiting a few farms in my lifetime. It's always such a fascinating experience to see where our food comes from and the hard work that goes into producing it.
What kind of farm do you like?
I have a bit of a soft spot for small, family-run farms. There's something about the care and dedication that goes into running a small farm that really resonates with me. It's also really nice to see the unique, sustainable practices that these types of farms often employ.

Did you do farm work when you were young?
I didn't grow up on a farm, so I didn't have the opportunity to do farm work during my youth. However, I did have the chance to help out on a few farms during summers in college, and it was a great learning experience. It gave me a whole new appreciation for the hard work and dedication that goes into producing our food.

I would like to talk about a memorable trip I took to the historical city of Jaipur in India. I traveled to Jaipur to explore its majestic forts and vibrant markets. To reach there, I decided to take a train from New Delhi, which is a common mode of public transport connecting the two cities. The train journey was comfortable and offered picturesque views of the Indian countryside.
I was accompanied by my family members on this trip. We were all excited to explore the rich cultural heritage of Jaipur and spend quality time together. The train journey provided us with the opportunity to bond, share stories, and enjoy the scenic beauty passing by outside the windows. It was a refreshing change from our usual hectic routines.
Overall, I felt delighted and rejuvenated by the experience of traveling by public transport to Jaipur. The convenience of the train, coupled with the company of my loved ones, made the trip even more special. It allowed me to immerse myself in the local culture, interact with fellow passengers, and appreciate the beauty of the journey itself. I look back at this trip with fond memories and a sense of gratitude for the enriching experience it provided.

Part 3 · Discussion
4 to 5 minutes. The examiner asks broader questions linked to the cue card topic.
How are trips taken by public transport different from those made by private cars?
Journeys taken by public transport and those made by private vehicles can differ significantly in several ways. For starters, when you opt for public transport, there’s often a sense of collective experience; you’re sharing the journey with a diverse group of people, which can lead to interesting interactions or simply a shared atmosphere. On the other hand, private vehicles tend to offer a sense of personal freedom—you have complete control over your route, your pace, and your music! Moreover, public transport usually involves a more structured schedule, which means you have to plan your time around bus or train timetables. This can sometimes feel restrictive, especially if there are delays. In contrast, driving your own car allows for more spontaneity; you can make impromptu stops or take detours, which can lead to unexpected adventures. Ultimately, each mode of transport has its own unique charm and drawbacks, making them suited to different occasions and preferences.
Some people think that using public transport can be more fun than driving. What do you think about this?
I absolutely agree that traveling by public transport can often be more enjoyable than driving. For one, it allows you to simply sit back and take in the scenery without the stress of navigating traffic or finding parking. There’s something quite charming about the vibrant atmosphere you find on a bus or train, where you can meet people from all walks of life and share moments of connection. Plus, public transport often gives you the chance to explore areas you might miss when you're focused on the road. Overall, it can transform a mundane journey into a delightful experience!
How important do you think public transport is for city growth?
Public transport plays a crucial role in urban development, and its significance cannot be overstated. First and foremost, it enhances accessibility, allowing people to move efficiently across the city, which in turn stimulates economic growth. When public transport systems are well-developed, they can reduce traffic congestion, leading to a more sustainable urban environment. Additionally, cities that invest in reliable public transport attract more residents and businesses, fostering a dynamic community. Ultimately, it’s not just about getting from point A to point B; it’s about creating a vibrant, interconnected society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Why do you think some people like using public transport instead of other ways to travel?
I believe there are several compelling reasons why some individuals gravitate towards public transport instead of other modes of transportation. Firstly, it's often more economical; with rising fuel prices, many people find that taking the bus or train can significantly reduce their daily expenses. Additionally, public transport can be a more sustainable option. In a world increasingly aware of environmental concerns, using buses and trains can help lessen our carbon footprint. Moreover, for those living in urban areas, traffic congestion can be a real headache. Public transport often allows for a more efficient journey, as buses and trains can bypass some of the bottlenecks that cars face. Lastly, many people appreciate the opportunity to relax or catch up on reading during their commute, rather than being stressed out behind the wheel. Overall, it seems that public transport provides a convenient and practical alternative that resonates with many individuals today.
What changes could happen in public transport in the next ten years?
Over the next decade, I anticipate some remarkable advancements in public transport systems, largely driven by technological innovation and sustainability concerns. For starters, we may see a significant increase in the use of electric vehicles, which would not only reduce emissions but also cut down on operational costs for transport providers. Additionally, the integration of smart technology will likely enhance the efficiency of public transport, allowing for real-time tracking and better scheduling, which can lead to an overall improved passenger experience. Moreover, I think we might witness a shift towards multimodal transport solutions, where different forms of transport are seamlessly connected, making it easier for commuters to transition from one mode to another. This could include everything from electric scooters to high-speed trains, creating a more comprehensive and user-friendly transport network. All these changes are exciting prospects that could really transform how we navigate urban environments!
What steps can be taken to get more people to use public transport?
To encourage more people to use public transport, a multifaceted approach could be highly effective. Firstly, improving the overall quality of service is crucial; this includes increasing the frequency of buses and trains, ensuring they are punctual, and maintaining cleanliness. Additionally, offering incentives such as reduced fares or free trials for new users could entice more individuals to give public transport a try. Public awareness campaigns highlighting the environmental benefits of using public transport could also play a significant role in shifting public perception. Lastly, enhancing infrastructure around public transport hubs, like better bike racks and safe walking paths, would make it more convenient for commuters to transition from one mode of transport to another.
