Part 1 · Interview
4 to 5 minutes. The examiner asks about you and familiar topics.
Can you tell me your full name?
Where are you from?
Do you work or are you a student?
Did you do puzzles in your childhood?
Oh, absolutely! I have fond memories of spending hours upon hours completing jigsaw puzzles with my family. It was always such a fun and challenging activity for us to do together.
Do you like doing word puzzles or number puzzles? Which is more difficult for you?
I love both types of puzzles, but I would have to say that word puzzles are my favorite. I find them to be incredibly stimulating for my mind and they always make me feel accomplished when I complete them. However, I find that number puzzles can be quite challenging for me as I'm not as strong in math as I am in language.
When do you do puzzles, during your trip or when you feel bored?
I try to do puzzles whenever I have some free time, whether it be during a trip or when I'm feeling bored. I find that puzzles are a great way to keep my mind active and occupied, and they're also a great stress reliever for me.
Do you think it is good for old people to do puzzles?
Absolutely! I think that puzzles are a wonderful activity for older adults as they help to keep the mind active and sharp. They can also help to improve memory and cognitive function, which can be particularly beneficial for older adults. Additionally, puzzles can be a great way for older adults to socialize and bond with others, as they can be completed in groups or with family members.
Do you like rainy days?
Oh, absolutely! I find rainy days to be incredibly peaceful and relaxing. The sound of the raindrops hitting the windows and the ground is so soothing, and there's something about the grey and misty atmosphere that I find quite calming. Plus, it's the perfect excuse to curl up with a good book or watch a movie.
What do you do on rainy days?
On rainy days, I love to indulge in some self-care activities. I'll often light some candles and have a long, luxurious bath, or perhaps do some yoga or meditation to help me relax. I also enjoy cooking and baking, so I'll often spend some time in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes. And, of course, I always make sure to catch up on some reading or watch a movie or two.
Does it rain much in your country? (Where? When?
?) Well, I'm from [insert country], and the rainfall can vary quite a bit depending on where you are. In general, the coastal areas tend to get more rainfall than the inland regions. The rainy season typically starts around [insert month] and lasts until [insert month], but some years it can be quite heavy and last longer.
Is there any part of your country where it doesn’t rain much?

On the other hand, [insert region/city] is known for its sunny and dry weather, making it a popular destination for tourists looking to escape the rain.

How are childhood friendships different from adult friendships?
Friendships in childhood and adulthood can vary significantly in terms of depth and complexity. As children, friendships are often based on shared activities and interests, such as playing games or attending school together. These relationships tend to be more spontaneous and less burdened by the responsibilities that come with adult life. In contrast, adult friendships often require more deliberate effort to maintain, as people juggle careers, families, and various commitments. Additionally, adult friendships usually involve a greater level of emotional investment and understanding, as individuals navigate life’s challenges together. This evolution reflects not only the changes in our circumstances but also our growing capacity for empathy and connection.
Some people think friends influence our lives more than family does. What do you think about this?
That's a fascinating question! I think the impact of friends versus family can vary significantly depending on individual circumstances. For many people, friends provide a unique support system that complements or sometimes even surpasses family ties, especially during adolescence and young adulthood when we’re shaping our identities. Friends often share similar interests and experiences, which can lead to more relatable advice and understanding. However, family generally lays the foundation of our values and beliefs, so their influence is also profound. Ultimately, I believe it's a delicate balance; both friends and family play pivotal roles in shaping who we are and how we navigate life's challenges.
How important do you think it is to have helpful friends when things get tough?
I believe having supportive friends during challenging times is absolutely crucial. When life throws its curveballs, knowing that there are people who genuinely care about you can make all the difference. They not only offer a listening ear but also provide valuable emotional support, helping you navigate through tough situations with a sense of reassurance. Furthermore, supportive friends can motivate you to stay positive and remind you of your strengths, which is incredibly empowering. In essence, they can turn a daunting experience into a shared journey, making the burden feel much lighter.
Why do you think people usually pick friends with similar hobbies and beliefs?
People often gravitate towards friends who share similar interests and values because it creates a strong sense of connection. When individuals have common ground, it fosters engaging conversations and enjoyable activities, which can significantly enhance the quality of the friendship. Additionally, sharing similar values often leads to mutual understanding and support, making it easier to navigate life's challenges together. It’s comforting to know that your friends relate to your beliefs and passions, which can ultimately strengthen the bond. In a world that can sometimes feel overwhelming, having friends who resonate with our core interests provides a sense of belonging and emotional security.
How can a close friend's role change as people experience different stages in life?
The role of a close friend can significantly evolve as we navigate the various stages of life. In childhood, friends often serve as companions for play and exploration, forming the backbone of our social interactions. As we transition into adolescence, these friendships can become more about shared experiences and emotional support, helping us navigate the tumultuous teen years. As we enter adulthood, friendships might shift towards being more goal-oriented, where friends motivate each other in careers and life choices. Interestingly, in later life stages, friendships may take on the role of a support system, providing companionship and understanding during challenging times. This evolution underscores how friendships adapt to our changing needs, reflecting the dynamic nature of human relationships.
What can people do to make their friendships stronger over time?
To strengthen friendships over time, individuals can focus on consistent communication, which is absolutely vital. Regularly checking in with friends, whether through messages or calls, helps maintain a connection and shows that you genuinely care. Additionally, making an effort to spend quality time together, whether it’s through shared activities or simply hanging out, can really bolster the bond you share. It's also important to be supportive during tough times; being there for your friends when they need you can solidify your relationship and create a sense of trust. Lastly, celebrating each other’s achievements, no matter how small, can create a positive atmosphere that fosters a deeper connection. Overall, it’s all about being present and nurturing those relationships!
