Part 1 · Interview

4 to 5 minutes. The examiner asks about you and familiar topics.

Introduction · Q1

Can you tell me your full name?

Introduction · Q2

Where are you from?

Introduction · Q3

Do you work or are you a student?

Car Trip · Q1

Do you like to travel by car?

Absolutely! There's just something about the freedom and flexibility of being able to drive yourself that I really enjoy. Plus, it's a great way to see more of a place and discover hidden gems you might not have found otherwise.

Car Trip · Q2

When do you travel by car?

I tend to travel by car most often when I'm going on longer road trips or when I'm visiting a place that doesn't have great public transportation. It's just easier to have your own vehicle and not have to rely on buses or trains to get around.

Car Trip · Q3

Where is the farthest place you have travelled to by car?

I've been lucky enough to take a few really long road trips in my life, but the farthest I've ever driven is probably from the East Coast of the United States all the way to the West Coast. It was an amazing journey and I saw so much of the country that I never would have seen otherwise.

Car Trip · Q4

Do you like to sit in the front or back when travelling by car?

It really depends on the situation. If I'm driving, I obviously prefer to sit in the front. But if I'm a passenger and there's someone else driving, I'm happy to sit in the back. It's just nice to have the option to stretch out and relax a little bit when you're on a long road trip.

Cars · Q1

Did you enjoy travelling by car when you were a child? [Why/Why not?

?] I absolutely loved travelling by car when I was a child. There was something so exciting about being in a vehicle and going on a journey, whether it was a long road trip or just a quick trip to the grocery store. Plus, being in the car meant that I could listen to music, play games, or just stare out the window and daydream. Overall, it was a really enjoyable experience for me.

Cars · Q2

Would you generally prefer to be a driver or a passenger in a car? [Why/Why not?

?] I would generally prefer to be a driver in a car. While it can be nice to sit back and relax as a passenger, I find that I enjoy the feeling of control and responsibility that comes with driving. Plus, I like being able to choose the route and decide where we go, rather than being at the mercy of someone else's choices.

Cars · Q3

How important is the colour of a car to you? [Why/Why not?

?] To be honest, the colour of a car is not particularly important to me. As long as it functions properly and gets me from point A to point B, I'm happy. I'm more concerned with things like the car's fuel efficiency, safety features, and overall reliability.

Cars · Q4

What type of car would you most like to have in the future? [Why/Why not?

?] In the future, I would love to have a hybrid or electric car. I'm really interested in reducing my carbon footprint and being more environmentally friendly, and I feel like driving a hybrid or electric car would be a great way to do that. Plus, with all of the advances in technology, I imagine that they will only become more and more practical and convenient in the coming years.

Part 3 · Discussion

Discussion · Q1

What are the different evening routines in cultures around the world?

Evening routines can vary significantly across cultures, reflecting unique traditions and lifestyles. For instance, in many Mediterranean countries, people tend to have a leisurely dinner around 9 or 10 PM, which is often followed by socializing in the streets or at cafés. In contrast, in countries like Japan, the evening may be more structured, with families coming together to share a meal before winding down with activities such as reading or watching television. Additionally, in some Middle Eastern cultures, evenings are often reserved for gathering with extended family, emphasizing the importance of community bonds. Overall, these cultural differences highlight not just varied eating habits, but also distinct values and priorities regarding family time and social interaction.

Discussion · Q2

How much do you believe some people are more productive in the evening than in the morning?

I believe that the productivity of evenings versus mornings largely depends on individual preferences and natural rhythms. Some people are *night owls*, thriving when the sun goes down, finding it easier to focus without the daytime distractions. For them, evenings can be a time of creative inspiration, where ideas flow more freely. On the other hand, *morning people* often experience a burst of energy right after waking, making it easier for them to tackle complex tasks early in the day. Ultimately, it’s all about knowing oneself and leveraging those peak productivity times, whether that’s in the calm of the evening or the fresh light of the morning!

Discussion · Q3

How important do you think evening activities are for keeping a good work-life balance?

Evening activities are absolutely essential in maintaining a healthy work-life balance. After a long day at work, engaging in leisure pursuits can alleviate stress and provide a much-needed break from professional responsibilities. Whether it’s exercising, socializing with friends, or indulging in a hobby, these activities can significantly enhance our overall well-being. They not only foster creativity but also allow us to recharge mentally and physically, making us more productive when we return to work. Ultimately, striking that balance is crucial for leading a fulfilling life and preventing burnout.

Discussion · Q4

Why do people usually prefer to do fun activities at night instead of during the day?

People often gravitate towards leisure activities in the evening for several compelling reasons. Firstly, after a long day of work or study, many individuals crave a sense of relaxation and escapism, which evening activities provide perfectly. The evening also tends to be a time when friends and family are available, making it easier to engage in social activities that foster meaningful connections. Additionally, many leisure options, like going out to dinner or attending events, are more vibrant and appealing at night, creating a lively atmosphere that's hard to resist. Ultimately, the evening serves as a well-deserved reward after a busy day, allowing people to unwind and enjoy life to the fullest.

Discussion · Q5

How could evening routines change in the future with new technology and work methods?

That's a fascinating question! As technology continues to evolve, I believe our evening habits will undergo significant transformations. For instance, the rise of remote work and flexible hours may lead to a more fluid schedule, allowing people to engage in leisure activities at unconventional times. Additionally, advancements in smart home technology could enhance our evening routines, making it easier to unwind with automated lighting and entertainment systems. This means that evenings might become less about winding down from a long day at the office and more about enjoying activities that promote well-being and social interaction—whether that's virtual gatherings or immersive experiences with augmented reality. Overall, I think these changes will lead to a more personalized and fulfilling evening experience for many of us.

Discussion · Q6

What can be done to help people use their evenings in a more enjoyable way?

To encourage people to spend their evenings in a more fulfilling way, communities could organize a range of engaging activities that cater to diverse interests. For instance, offering workshops on arts, crafts, or cooking can spark creativity and allow individuals to learn new skills, which is incredibly rewarding. Additionally, local governments could promote social events, such as open mic nights or community sports leagues, to foster social connections and create a sense of belonging. Moreover, there could be initiatives that encourage people to unplug from their screens and engage in outdoor activities, like group hikes or park fitness classes. By creating an environment that promotes active participation and interaction, individuals are likely to discover new passions and enhance their overall well-being. Ultimately, it's all about providing opportunities that inspire people to step out of their comfort zones and connect with others.
