Part 1 · Interview

4 to 5 minutes. The examiner asks about you and familiar topics.

Introduction · Q1

Can you tell me your full name?

Introduction · Q2

Where are you from?

Introduction · Q3

Do you work or are you a student?

Computers · Q1

When do you use computers?

I use computers on a daily basis for work, communication, and entertainment purposes. I find them to be an essential part of my daily routine.

Computers · Q2

When was the first time you used a computer?

I first used a computer when I was in elementary school. It was a basic desktop machine with a black and white monitor. I remember feeling so excited to be able to type and play simple games on it.

Computers · Q3

What would your life be like without computers?

It's hard to imagine my life without computers. They have become such an integral part of how I live and work. Without them, I would likely have to rely on more traditional methods of communication, such as snail mail or phone calls, and would struggle to keep up with the fast pace of modern life.

Computers · Q4

In what conditions would it be difficult for you to use a computer?

There are a few conditions that would make it difficult for me to use a computer, such as a power outage or a broken device. However, even in these situations, there are often alternatives such as battery backup systems or the use of a different device. Overall, I find computers to be fairly reliable and easy to use in most circumstances.

Concentration · Q1

Did you always pay attention in your lessons at school? [why/why not?

?] To be honest, I can't say I always paid attention in my lessons at school. I think it's pretty normal for students to get a bit distracted or disinterested in certain subjects, especially if they're not particularly engaging or relevant to their interests. That being said, I did try my best to focus and absorb as much information as possible, especially when it came to exams or important assignments.

Concentration · Q2

Do you find it easy to concentrate when you are in a noisy place? [why/why not?

?] It can be a bit of a challenge for me to concentrate in a noisy place, especially if there are a lot of distractions or interruptions. I think it's just human nature to get a bit distracted by outside stimuli, and it can be hard to stay focused on a task when there are a lot of other things going on around you. That being said, I do try my best to find a quiet and distraction-free space to work or study in whenever possible.

Concentration · Q3

When is it particularly important for you to concentrate? [why?

?] There are a few different situations when it's particularly important for me to concentrate. For example, when I'm working on an important project or presentation, I need to be fully focused and engaged in order to deliver the best possible results. Similarly, when I'm studying for an exam or trying to learn something new, I need to be able to concentrate in order to absorb and retain the information. In these cases, my ability to concentrate directly impacts my success and achievements, so it's really important for me to focus and give my full attention to the task at hand.

Concentration · Q4

What do you do to help yourself concentrate better? [why/why not?

?] There are a few things I do to help myself concentrate better. For one, I try to eliminate as many distractions as possible. This might mean turning off my phone, finding a quiet and comfortable workspace, or even just closing my eyes and taking a few deep breaths to clear my mind. I also try to set specific goals and priorities for each task, as this helps me stay focused and motivated. Finally, I try to take breaks and move around a bit, as this can help energize me and improve my overall concentration and productivity.

Discussion · Q1

What are the differences between a calm place and a busy environment?

That's a fantastic question! The characteristics of a peaceful place often revolve around tranquility and serenity. You might find elements like lush greenery, calm waters, or soft sounds of nature, which contribute to a sense of relaxation and introspection. In contrast, a busy environment is typically marked by hustle and bustle, where you encounter noise, crowds, and a vibrant energy that can be both exhilarating and overwhelming. The rapid pace of life in such areas can stimulate creativity and social interaction, but it often lacks the calming atmosphere that peaceful places provide. Ultimately, both environments have their unique appeal, catering to different moods and needs.

Discussion · Q2

How much can we say that modern technology reduces our sense of peace in the places we go?

Modern technology undeniably plays a pivotal role in shaping our experiences, and it can be argued that it often diminishes the experience of tranquility in places we visit. For instance, the omnipresence of smartphones and social media tends to distract us from fully immersing ourselves in our surroundings. Instead of appreciating the serene beauty of nature, many people are preoccupied with capturing the perfect photo or posting updates online. However, it’s also worth noting that technology can enhance our experiences by providing valuable information and facilitating connections with others. Ultimately, it’s a balancing act; while technology can disrupt our peace, it can also enhance our awareness and appreciation of tranquil environments if used mindfully.

Discussion · Q3

How can being able to visit calm places help improve well-being in society?

Having access to peaceful locations can significantly enhance overall well-being in society by providing individuals with a serene environment to unwind and reflect. These tranquil spaces, such as parks or gardens, allow people to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life, reducing stress levels and promoting mental clarity. Moreover, spending time in nature has been proven to have a positive impact on physical health, encouraging people to engage in outdoor activities and maintain a more active lifestyle. Additionally, communal peaceful locations can foster social connections, as they serve as gathering spots where individuals can come together, share experiences, and strengthen community ties. Ultimately, the availability of these calming spaces contributes to a more harmonious society, where people feel rejuvenated and connected to one another.

Discussion · Q4

Why do you think more people are looking for calm places in today's busy world?

In today's fast-paced world, the relentless pace of life can often feel overwhelming, which is why many people are increasingly seeking out peaceful environments. The constant bombardment of information and the pressures of work can lead to heightened stress levels, making tranquil spaces a sanctuary for mental well-being. Additionally, as more individuals become aware of the importance of mindfulness and self-care, they recognize that spending time in nature or quiet places can significantly enhance their overall quality of life. It’s fascinating how such environments can act as a counterbalance to our hectic routines, allowing for moments of reflection and rejuvenation. Ultimately, I believe that this quest for serenity is a natural response to the chaos around us, as people strive to find harmony in their lives.

Discussion · Q5

What changes could happen in the future about how people feel about quiet places?

In the future, I believe we’ll see a significant shift towards increased demand for tranquil spaces as people become more aware of the mental health benefits they offer. With the rise of urbanization and the relentless pace of modern life, individuals are likely to seek out serene environments where they can unwind and recharge. This could lead to a surge in the popularity of parks, gardens, and even urban retreats designed specifically for relaxation. Additionally, as technology continues to permeate our lives, we might witness a trend where people intentionally disconnect from their devices in favor of spending time in nature, fostering a deeper appreciation for the outdoors. Ultimately, as society grapples with the stresses of contemporary living, the allure of peaceful havens will undoubtedly grow stronger.

Discussion · Q6

What steps can be taken to improve the calmness of public parks and natural spaces?

To enhance the serenity of public parks and natural areas, there are several effective measures that can be implemented. Firstly, increasing the number of green spaces and planting more trees can significantly contribute to a calming atmosphere, as they not only improve air quality but also provide a sense of tranquility. Additionally, establishing strict noise regulations can help maintain a peaceful environment, discouraging loud activities that disrupt the natural soundscape. Moreover, creating designated areas for quiet reflection, such as meditation gardens or reading nooks, would encourage visitors to engage in more serene activities. Lastly, involving the community in maintenance and activities can foster a sense of ownership, leading to a more respectful and harmonious use of these spaces. By taking these steps, we can truly enhance the peacefulness of our beloved parks and natural areas.
