Which season is your favourite
In India, my favorite season is the monsoon season, which typically occurs from June to September. This season holds a special place in my heart due to the relief it brings from the scorching summer heat and the rejuvenation it brings to the surroundings. The monsoon season is characterized by heavy rainfall, lush greenery, and a cool breeze, making it a delightful experience.
What do you like to do during this season
During the monsoon season, I thoroughly enjoy indulging in activities such as savoring hot chai (tea) with pakoras (fritters) while watching the rain pour outside, going for long drives through the countryside to witness the lush green landscapes, and simply lounging at home with a good book listening to the rhythmic sound of raindrops. The cool weather and petrichor during this season create a cozy atmosphere that is perfect for relaxation and introspection.
How does this season make you feel
The monsoon season makes me feel nostalgic and content. The sight of raindrops falling from the sky and the earthy smell that fills the air evoke memories of my childhood when I used to play in the rain without a care in the world. This season brings a sense of tranquility and connection to nature, reminding me of the beauty of simplicity and the importance of slowing down in today's fast-paced world.
Any special memories associated with this season
One special memory associated with the monsoon season is a trip I took with my family to a hill station during the peak of the rainy season. The mist-covered mountains, glistening waterfalls, and vibrant greenery created a picturesque setting that left a lasting impression on me. The experience of trekking through the rain-soaked trails and enjoying piping hot local delicacies by a bonfire remains etched in my memory as a moment of pure bliss and togetherness.

Part 3 · Discussion
4 to 5 minutes. The examiner asks broader questions linked to the cue card topic.
What makes your favorite season different from the other seasons in your country?
Oh, I absolutely love autumn! The characteristics of autumn really set it apart from the other seasons in my country. For starters, the vibrant foliage transforms the landscape into a breathtaking canvas of reds, oranges, and yellows, which is a stark contrast to the greens of summer or the bare branches of winter. Additionally, the crisp air is invigorating; it’s that perfect temperature where you can enjoy outdoor activities without breaking a sweat. Unlike the sweltering heat of summer or the gloomy rain of spring, autumn strikes a delightful balance that invites cozy gatherings and warm drinks. Plus, there’s something magical about the sense of transition, as nature prepares for the winter months, which adds a certain charm that I find absolutely captivating!
What are some popular ideas people have about how the seasons change?
People often hold a variety of fascinating beliefs about the changing of seasons, many of which are steeped in tradition. For instance, many cultures believe that spring symbolizes rebirth and renewal, which is why it’s often associated with festivals celebrating new life and growth. In contrast, autumn is frequently viewed as a time for reflection and preparation, as the days grow shorter and nature begins to slow down. Additionally, some might believe that winter brings about a period of rest, allowing both nature and people to recharge before the cycle begins again. These beliefs not only highlight the beauty of each season but also connect us to our surroundings and the rhythms of life.
How do you think your favorite season adds to the culture of your country?
I absolutely adore autumn, and I believe it plays a significant role in shaping the overall culture of my country. Firstly, the vibrant colors and the crisp air inspire a sense of community spirit as people come together to celebrate harvest festivals, showcasing local produce and traditional crafts. These events not only highlight our agricultural heritage but also foster a sense of belonging among residents. Furthermore, autumn is synonymous with various cultural traditions, like Halloween and Thanksgiving, which encourage family gatherings and the sharing of stories, thus strengthening familial bonds. In essence, the season is a beautiful tapestry of nature’s bounty and cultural expression that resonates deeply with our national identity.
Why do you think lots of people like one season more than others, and what affects their choices?
People often gravitate towards a preferred season due to a variety of personal experiences and emotional associations that each season brings. For instance, someone might cherish summer for its long, sun-soaked days spent outdoors with friends and family, while another might find the beauty of autumn's changing leaves deeply moving. Additionally, cultural influences play a significant role; holidays and festivals often shape our feelings about a particular time of year. Climate is also a crucial factor—some individuals thrive in warmer weather, while others might enjoy the crispness of winter. Ultimately, it's a fascinating blend of memories, emotions, and environmental factors that leads people to favor one season over another.
How could climate change affect the seasons we will have in the future?
Climate change is likely to have a profound effect on the seasons we experience in the future. For instance, we may see increased variability in weather patterns, leading to more extreme seasons. Winters could become milder while summers might experience more intense heatwaves. Additionally, shifts in the timing of seasons could disrupt natural cycles, affecting everything from blooming periods for plants to animal migration. It’s fascinating yet concerning to think how these changes could reshape our ecosystems and even our daily lives!
What steps can be taken to make outdoor activities more fun in your favorite season?
To enhance the enjoyment of outdoor activities during my favorite season, which is spring, there are several measures that could be implemented. First and foremost, local governments could invest in well-maintained parks and recreational areas, ensuring they are clean and accessible. Additionally, organizing community events, like outdoor festivals or sports tournaments, would foster a sense of camaraderie and encourage people to participate in various activities. Moreover, providing information and resources about safe practices and equipment for outdoor adventures would enhance safety and confidence for all participants. Finally, promoting eco-friendly initiatives, such as tree planting or clean-up drives, not only beautifies the surroundings but also instills a sense of responsibility towards nature, making outdoor experiences even more fulfilling.
