Part 1 · Interview
4 to 5 minutes. The examiner asks about you and familiar topics.
Can you tell me your full name?
Where are you from?
Do you work or are you a student?
Do you like reading magazines or newspapers?
I absolutely love reading magazines. I find them to be a great source of inspiration, information and entertainment.
What type of magazine you may like to read?
I am particularly interested in fashion and lifestyle magazines, as they provide me with the latest trends, ideas and inspiration for my personal style and home decor. I also enjoy reading travel magazines, as they allow me to explore new places and cultures from the comfort of my own home.
What section do you like in a magazine?
One of my favourite sections in a magazine is the fashion section. I love to see the latest trends and styles, and get ideas for how to incorporate them into my own wardrobe. I also enjoy reading the beauty and health sections, as they provide me with valuable tips and advice on how to take care of myself.
In the future, do you think more people than today will read magazines, or fewer people?
I think that with the rise of digital media, fewer people will read physical magazines in the future. However, I do believe that the content of magazines will continue to be popular, as people will still seek out the same type of inspiration, information and entertainment in digital format. So, I think that magazine content will continue to be widely consumed, just in a different format.
Do you often wear makeup?
I do wear makeup occasionally, but not on a daily basis. I prefer to keep my look natural most of the time.
What does wearing makeup mean to you?
To me, wearing makeup is a way to enhance my features and boost my confidence. It's an enjoyable and creative process that allows me to express my personal style.
Do you give makeup as a gift?
Yes, I have given makeup as a gift to friends and family members in the past. I think it's a thoughtful and practical gift that can be enjoyed by many different people.
What do you think when you see a man wearing makeup?
Personally, I don't see anything wrong with men wearing makeup. I believe that everyone should be able to express themselves in whatever way they choose, and makeup is no exception. I think it's great that more men are feeling comfortable enough to experiment with makeup and break down traditional gender norms.

How you met this person
I met my close friend, Ravi, back in college during our freshman year. We were both enrolled in the same Economics class and happened to sit beside each other on the first day. Our initial conversation was brief, discussing the course material, but there was an instant connection that sparked our friendship. Ravi's warm and friendly demeanor made it easy for me to open up, and we quickly discovered shared interests and values.
What made you become friends
What truly solidified our friendship was our shared passion for social issues and volunteering. We often spent our weekends participating in community service activities, working together to make a positive impact in our local area. These experiences not only strengthened our bond but also allowed us to grow personally and develop a deeper understanding of the world around us. One memorable experience was organizing a charity event for underprivileged children, where we saw the direct impact of our efforts on those in need.
Memorable experiences you shared
Our friendship means the world to me because Ravi has been my pillar of support through both the good and challenging times. He is someone I can always rely on for advice, encouragement, and a listening ear. His unwavering loyalty and genuine care have helped me navigate difficult situations and celebrate life's victories. Our friendship has taught me the true meaning of companionship and has enriched my life in countless ways.
Why this friendship is important to you
In conclusion, the bond I share with Ravi is not just a friendship but a valuable connection built on mutual respect, trust, and shared experiences. Our friendship reminds me of the importance of having someone who understands you deeply and stands by you no matter what. I am grateful for Ravi's presence in my life and cherish the moments we have shared together.

Part 3 · Discussion
4 to 5 minutes. The examiner asks broader questions linked to the cue card topic.
How are friendships made in childhood different from those made in adulthood?
Friendships formed in childhood often have a sense of innocent spontaneity that can be quite rare in adult relationships. As kids, we tend to bond over simple things like shared interests or playground games, which creates a strong sense of camaraderie without the complexities that adult friendships often entail. In contrast, friendships in adulthood are frequently shaped by shared responsibilities and life experiences, such as work or family commitments. This means that while adult friendships can be deeply enriching, they often require more effort to maintain and develop. Ultimately, both types of friendships provide invaluable support, but they do so in distinctly different ways.
Some people think that friends are more important than family. What do you think about this?
That's a fascinating question! I believe both friendships and family relationships hold significant value, but they serve different purposes in our lives. Friendships often provide us with a sense of emotional support and understanding that can sometimes feel more relatable than what family can offer. On the other hand, family relationships are often built on a foundation of unconditional love and shared history, which can create a strong bond that lasts a lifetime. Ultimately, the importance of each can vary from person to person, depending on their individual experiences and circumstances. Personally, I think a healthy balance between the two enriches our lives in unique and fulfilling ways!
How important do you believe close friends are for a person's emotional health?
Having close friends is absolutely vital for an individual's emotional well-being. They provide a sense of belonging and support that can be incredibly comforting during tough times. When we face challenges, it’s often our friends who can offer a listening ear or a shoulder to lean on, which can make all the difference in how we cope. Moreover, sharing joyful moments with friends can lead to increased feelings of happiness and fulfillment. In a world where we often encounter stress and uncertainty, these close relationships can act as a buffer, promoting resilience and emotional stability.
Why do you think people often feel a close bond with friends they meet in strange situations?
I believe the unique situations in which people meet can create a profound sense of shared experience, fostering strong connections. When individuals encounter each other in high-pressure or unexpected circumstances, it often leads to a feeling of camaraderie that’s hard to replicate in typical social settings. These moments can serve as a catalyst for deeper conversations and authentic interactions, as everyone is usually more open and vulnerable in such scenarios. Additionally, overcoming challenges together can create lasting bonds, as people tend to remember those who stood by them during tough times. It’s fascinating how these friendships can sometimes feel more genuine and enduring, simply because they were forged in the fires of adversity!
How might friendships change in the future because of new technology?
It's fascinating to consider how technology could reshape our friendships in the future! As communication tools become increasingly sophisticated, we might see a shift towards more virtual connections, with people forming friendships through online platforms that enhance interaction, like virtual reality. This could lead to a more globalized perspective on friendships, where geographical boundaries fade and we connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds. However, there’s also a risk that these digital relationships might lack the depth and intimacy of face-to-face interactions, potentially diminishing the emotional bonds we share. In essence, while technology has the potential to enrich our social lives, it's crucial to find a balance to ensure that our friendships remain meaningful and fulfilling.
What are some good ways for people to keep friendships strong even when they're busy?
Maintaining friendships in today's fast-paced world can be quite a challenge, but there are definitely some effective strategies to keep those connections alive. One of the best ways is to prioritize quality time over quantity. Even if it’s just a quick coffee catch-up or a short video call, making an effort to connect regularly can really strengthen the bond. Additionally, utilizing technology can be a game-changer; apps and social media allow us to stay in touch and share moments, keeping the friendship vibrant even when we’re miles apart. Finally, planning regular get-togethers—like a monthly dinner or a weekend hike—can provide something to look forward to and help ensure that friendships don’t fall by the wayside.
