Introduction · Q3

Do you work or are you a student?

Celebrities · Q1

Who is your favorite celebrity in India?

Oh, that's a tough one. I really admire Aamir Khan's acting abilities and the way he uses his platform to bring attention to social issues. He's definitely at the top of my list.

Do you like any foreign celebrities?

Absolutely! I'm a huge fan of Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone. They're both such talented actresses and have great personalities too.

Celebrities · Q3

Hmm, I'm not sure. While it would be fun to have a larger platform to share my talents and ideas, the lack of privacy and constant scrutiny would be a huge drawback for me.

Celebrities · Q4

Do you think we should respect famous people's privacy?

Definitely. No one deserves to have their private life constantly on display for the world to see. Famous people are still human and deserve to have their own space and time to themselves.

Changes · Q1

Do you like changes? Why?

I'd say I'm generally a fan of change. I think it keeps things interesting and helps us grow and learn new things. Plus, I'm the type of person who gets a little restless when things stay the same for too long.

Changes · Q2

What have been some changes in your living area/ city recently?

There have been a few notable changes in my city recently. For one, there's been a lot of construction going on. They're building a new shopping mall, and there are several new apartment buildings going up as well. It's definitely changing the skyline a bit. Additionally, there have been some changes to the public transportation system. They've added a few new bus routes and extended the hours of operation for the subway.

Changes · Q3

Have you changed a lot since your childhood?

Definitely. I think we all change a lot as we grow and experience new things. When I was a kid, I was pretty shy and introverted. I've definitely come out of my shell more as I've gotten older, and I'm much more confident and outgoing now. I've also learned a lot and developed new interests and hobbies.

Changes · Q4

What do you plan to change next year?

I'm not sure specifically what changes I'll make next year, but I'm always looking for ways to improve and grow. Personally, I'd like to work on my physical fitness and maybe pick up a new hobby or two. As far as my career goes, I'm always looking for new opportunities and ways to advance. So, I'm sure there will be some changes there as well.

Part 3 · Discussion

4 to 5 minutes. The examiner asks broader questions linked to the cue card topic.

Discussion · Q1

How does the popularity of athletes in various sports differ in public awareness and endorsement chances?

The fame of athletes can vary dramatically depending on the sport they participate in. For instance, sports like soccer and basketball tend to command a massive following worldwide, which translates into significant public recognition for their athletes. In contrast, sports such as tennis or golf may not have the same level of team-based visibility but can still yield lucrative endorsement opportunities due to the individual star power of prominent players. Moreover, the rise of social media has enabled even lesser-known athletes to amplify their presence, creating unique avenues for attracting sponsorship deals. Overall, while mainstream sports often offer broader recognition, niche sports can sometimes provide equally rewarding opportunities for those who excel.

Discussion · Q2

How much do you think an athlete's success affects how popular they are?

I believe the achievements of an athlete play a significant role in their overall popularity, but it's not the only factor. Undeniably, records broken and medals won can catapult someone into the public eye, creating a sense of admiration among fans and inspiring the next generation. However, qualities like charisma, personality, and the ability to connect with the audience are equally important. For instance, athletes who engage with social issues or demonstrate exceptional sportsmanship often gain a loyal following beyond their athletic prowess. In today's digital age, even an athlete's presence on social media can enhance their popularity, regardless of their achievements on the field. So, while success in sports is crucial, it’s the combination of talent, relatability, and character that truly propels an athlete into stardom.

Discussion · Q3

How does media coverage help raise the status of some athletes in society?

Media coverage plays a pivotal role in shaping the public perception of athletes and, consequently, elevating their status in society. When athletes receive extensive media attention, it not only highlights their achievements but also creates a sense of cultural significance around them. For instance, coverage of Olympic champions can transform them into household names, inspiring admiration and even aspiration among fans and aspiring athletes alike. Moreover, media narratives often focus on their personal stories and struggles, which can resonate deeply with the audience, fostering a sense of connection and relatability. In essence, the more an athlete is featured in the media, the more likely they are to attain celebrity status, influencing everything from endorsements to public engagement.

Discussion · Q4

Why do you think some athletes are seen as role models and others aren’t?

That's a fascinating question! I think the difference often boils down to how athletes carry themselves both on and off the field. Those who exhibit qualities like resilience, sportsmanship, and integrity tend to resonate more with the public, making them ideal role models. Additionally, athletes who engage with their communities or use their platform to advocate for important issues often gain a more profound respect and admiration from fans. On the other hand, some athletes may struggle with personal challenges or controversies that overshadow their achievements, making it harder for them to be seen as positive figures. So, in essence, it's a combination of their actions, values, and the way they connect with their audience that determines their status as role models.

Discussion · Q5

How could the world of professional sports look different in the next ten years when it comes to how popular athletes are?

In the next decade, I believe we will witness a significant shift in athlete popularity, largely driven by the rise of social media and digital platforms. Athletes are no longer just performers; they are becoming influencers with the ability to connect with fans on a personal level. This could lead to a more diverse range of athletes gaining recognition, as underrepresented sports and regions might finally get their time to shine. Furthermore, as fans increasingly gravitate towards authenticity, we might see a shift towards athletes who embody social responsibility and activism, rather than just traditional metrics of success like medals or trophies. Overall, it’s an exciting time that could redefine who we celebrate in the world of professional sports!

Discussion · Q6

What steps can be taken to make sure more athletes get the recognition they deserve for their impact on sports?

To ensure that more athletes receive the recognition they deserve, a multifaceted approach is essential. Firstly, media coverage plays a crucial role; by promoting lesser-known sports and highlighting the achievements of athletes outside the mainstream, we can broaden public awareness. Additionally, sports organizations should implement awards programs that celebrate not just the elite but also those who have made significant contributions at community levels. Furthermore, integrating stories of these athletes into educational curriculums can inspire future generations and foster a deeper appreciation for diverse sports. Ultimately, it’s about creating a culture that values all athletes and their unique journeys, which can significantly enhance the overall sports landscape.
