I use computers on a daily basis for work, communication, and entertainment purposes. I find them to be an essential part of my daily routine.

Computers · Q2

I first used a computer when I was in elementary school. It was a basic desktop machine with a black and white monitor. I remember feeling so excited to be able to type and play simple games on it.

Computers · Q3

What would your life be like without computers?

It's hard to imagine my life without computers. They have become such an integral part of how I live and work. Without them, I would likely have to rely on more traditional methods of communication, such as snail mail or phone calls, and would struggle to keep up with the fast pace of modern life.

Computers · Q4

In what conditions would it be difficult for you to use a computer?

There are a few conditions that would make it difficult for me to use a computer, such as a power outage or a broken device. However, even in these situations, there are often alternatives such as battery backup systems or the use of a different device. Overall, I find computers to be fairly reliable and easy to use in most circumstances.

Concentration · Q1

Did you always pay attention in your lessons at school? [why/why not?

?] To be honest, I can't say I always paid attention in my lessons at school. I think it's pretty normal for students to get a bit distracted or disinterested in certain subjects, especially if they're not particularly engaging or relevant to their interests. That being said, I did try my best to focus and absorb as much information as possible, especially when it came to exams or important assignments.

Concentration · Q2

Do you find it easy to concentrate when you are in a noisy place? [why/why not?

?] It can be a bit of a challenge for me to concentrate in a noisy place, especially if there are a lot of distractions or interruptions. I think it's just human nature to get a bit distracted by outside stimuli, and it can be hard to stay focused on a task when there are a lot of other things going on around you. That being said, I do try my best to find a quiet and distraction-free space to work or study in whenever possible.

Concentration · Q3

When is it particularly important for you to concentrate? [why?

?] There are a few different situations when it's particularly important for me to concentrate. For example, when I'm working on an important project or presentation, I need to be fully focused and engaged in order to deliver the best possible results. Similarly, when I'm studying for an exam or trying to learn something new, I need to be able to concentrate in order to absorb and retain the information. In these cases, my ability to concentrate directly impacts my success and achievements, so it's really important for me to focus and give my full attention to the task at hand.

Concentration · Q4

What do you do to help yourself concentrate better? [why/why not?

?] There are a few things I do to help myself concentrate better. For one, I try to eliminate as many distractions as possible. This might mean turning off my phone, finding a quiet and comfortable workspace, or even just closing my eyes and taking a few deep breaths to clear my mind. I also try to set specific goals and priorities for each task, as this helps me stay focused and motivated. Finally, I try to take breaks and move around a bit, as this can help energize me and improve my overall concentration and productivity.

Point 1

What the activity was

For the first time, I tried my hand at making traditional Indian sweets called "Gulab Jamun." It was during the festive season of Diwali, which is a significant celebration in India, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness. I attempted this culinary adventure in my family kitchen, surrounded by the warm aroma of spices and the joyous atmosphere of the festival. My grandmother, who is an expert in making Indian sweets, guided me through the process.

Point 2

Where and when you did it

I decided to make Gulab Jamun as it is one of my favorite desserts, and I have always admired the skill required to prepare it. The process involved mixing khoya (reduced milk solids) with flour and shaping them into small balls, which are then deep-fried and soaked in sugar syrup. Despite the intricate steps involved, I found the experience to be immensely rewarding. The satisfaction of creating something delicious from scratch, combined with the anticipation of tasting the final product, fueled my enjoyment.

Point 3

Who you did it with

Having my grandmother by my side throughout the cooking process made the experience even more special. Her invaluable tips and encouragement boosted my confidence and made the activity memorable. The joy of learning a new skill from a beloved family member enhanced my overall experience and strengthened our bond.

In conclusion, my first attempt at making Gulab Jamun was a delightful experience that I thoroughly enjoyed. From the excitement of trying something new to the satisfaction of creating a delicious treat, every moment was filled with happiness and learning. This activity not only allowed me to explore my culinary skills but also provided me with precious moments of togetherness with my grandmother. It was truly a memorable experience that I cherish and look forward to repeating in the future.

Part 3 · Discussion

4 to 5 minutes. The examiner asks broader questions linked to the cue card topic.

Discussion · Q1

How can trying new activities be better than doing the ones we already know?

Trying new activities can be incredibly enriching and often leads to personal growth in ways that sticking to familiar ones might not. For instance, engaging in fresh experiences can help develop new skills and broaden our horizons, allowing us to discover hidden talents or interests we never knew we had. Additionally, stepping outside our comfort zone can enhance our adaptability and resilience, as we learn to navigate unfamiliar situations and overcome challenges. It also fosters a sense of adventure and curiosity, which can be quite invigorating and lead to meaningful connections with others who share similar interests. Ultimately, while familiarity can bring comfort, embracing new activities can lead to a more fulfilling and dynamic life.

Discussion · Q2

Some people think that trying new things can make us happier. What do you think about this?

I absolutely agree with the notion that experiencing things for the first time can lead to greater happiness. There's something truly exhilarating about new experiences that can ignite a sense of joy and wonder. When we try something for the first time, whether it's traveling to a new country or tasting an exotic dish, it often brings a rush of excitement and anticipation. Those moments can create lasting memories and enhance our appreciation for life. Plus, stepping out of our comfort zones can foster personal growth and a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us, which is incredibly rewarding!

Discussion · Q3

How important do you think it is for people to leave their comfort zones and try new things?

I believe it's incredibly significant for individuals to step out of their comfort zones and embrace new experiences. When we challenge ourselves, we often discover hidden strengths and abilities that we didn't even know we had. This not only fosters personal growth but also enhances our self-confidence and resilience. Additionally, trying new things can lead to unexpected opportunities and connections with others, which can be truly enriching. Ultimately, stepping outside of our comfort zones is a vital part of living a fulfilling and well-rounded life.

Discussion · Q4

Why do you think some people are more open to trying new things than others?

That's a fascinating question! I believe several factors contribute to why some individuals are more open to new experiences. For one, personality traits play a significant role; for instance, those who are naturally adventurous or curious tend to seek out novel experiences more than others. Additionally, past experiences can influence this willingness; if someone has had positive encounters when trying new things, they're likely to be more inclined to do so in the future. Lastly, the environment and culture one is exposed to can foster a sense of exploration and innovation, encouraging individuals to step outside their comfort zones. Overall, it's a combination of personality, past experiences, and cultural influences that shapes this willingness.

Discussion · Q5

How could the idea of enjoying new experiences change in the future as society develops?

As society continues to evolve, I believe the concept of enjoying new experiences will also undergo significant transformation. With advancements in technology, particularly virtual and augmented reality, people will have the opportunity to engage in immersive experiences that were previously unimaginable. For instance, individuals might explore distant cultures or participate in thrilling adventures from the comfort of their homes. Additionally, as global connectivity increases, there could be a greater emphasis on cross-cultural exchanges, allowing people to share and appreciate diverse traditions and lifestyles. Overall, the future promises to enhance our ability to seek out and enjoy new experiences in ways that are more accessible and enriching than ever before.

Discussion · Q6

What ways can we promote more people to try new activities?

To encourage more people to engage in new activities, I believe a multifaceted approach is essential. First and foremost, community events can play a pivotal role; organizing festivals or workshops where people can try out various activities in a low-pressure environment can spark curiosity and participation. Additionally, leveraging social media to showcase success stories or testimonials can create a sense of belonging and motivation. Providing incentives, such as discounts or freebies for first-time participants, can also be a powerful motivator. Finally, fostering a supportive atmosphere where individuals feel comfortable stepping out of their comfort zones is crucial, as it can significantly reduce the fear of failure and encourage exploration.
