Introduction · Q3

Do you work or are you a student?

City Life · Q1

Do you like the city you are living in now? [Why?

?] Oh yeah, absolutely! I mean, it's not perfect by any means, but it's definitely got its charms. For one thing, it's got a really vibrant arts scene - there are always concerts and exhibitions and stuff like that happening, which I really enjoy. Plus, it's just really convenient for getting around - the public transport system is pretty efficient, and there's always a ton of stuff to do and see.

City Life · Q2

Do you prefer the city or the countryside? [Why?

?] That's a tough one. I think I could go either way, really. On the one hand, I love the fast-paced, energetic vibe of the city - there's always something going on, and I really thrive on that kind of energy. On the other hand, though, I also really appreciate the peace and quiet of the countryside. It's just so relaxing to be surrounded by all that open space and nature. I guess it just depends on my mood, really.

City Life · Q3

What kinds of city do you like? [Why?

?] I think I'm most drawn to cities that have a really unique character and sense of identity. Like, I love places that are really steeped in history and culture, and that have a really strong local community. I also really enjoy cities that are really diverse and multicultural - I find it really interesting to see how different cultures and traditions intersect and influence each other. Overall, I think it's just really important for a city to have a strong sense of place and identity.

City Life · Q4

Which city do you want to go to? [Why?

?] There are so many cities that I'd love to visit! Right now, I'm particularly interested in exploring more of Asia - I've always been fascinated by the different cultures and histories of the region, and there are so many amazing cities to explore. In particular, I'd love to visit Tokyo - I've heard that it's such a vibrant, dynamic city, with a really unique blend of traditional and modern elements. I'd also love to visit Seoul and Hong Kong - I think they'd both be really interesting to explore, with their own distinct identities and cultures.

Clothes · Q1

Are clothes important to people where you live?

Oh absolutely. I think fashion is a big deal for many people in my community. People here tend to put a lot of thought into what they wear and how it reflects their personal style.

Clothes · Q2

How do people decide which clothes to buy?

It really depends on the person. Some people are really into following trends and will buy whatever is popular at the moment. Others are more selective and might consider factors like comfort, practicality, and whether the clothing fits with their existing wardrobe.

Clothes · Q3

Would you ever buy clothes for somebody as a present?

Sure, I've definitely given clothes as gifts before. It can be a great way to show someone that you know their style and are paying attention to what they like. However, I always try to make sure I'm choosing something that the recipient will actually want to wear, rather than just picking out something that I like.

Clothes · Q4

Do you think clothes are too important for some people?

I think it's possible for people to place too much emphasis on clothes and what they wear. It's important to remember that clothing is just one aspect of a person's overall appearance and shouldn't define them entirely. However, I also think it's important for people to feel comfortable and confident in what they're wearing, so I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing if someone puts a lot of thought into their wardrobe.

Part 3 · Discussion

4 to 5 minutes. The examiner asks broader questions linked to the cue card topic.

Discussion · Q1

How can exciting experiences vary for different people because of their personalities or backgrounds?

Thrilling experiences can vary significantly from person to person, largely due to individual personalities and their unique backgrounds. For instance, someone with a more adventurous spirit might find skydiving to be an exhilarating experience, while another person might feel the same thrill from a simple hike in nature. Cultural influences also play a pivotal role; people from different backgrounds may have varying perceptions of what constitutes a thrilling moment. Additionally, those who are more risk-averse may shy away from extreme sports, preferring activities that are stimulating yet safe, like attending a concert or exploring a new city. Ultimately, what one person finds thrilling could be utterly mundane to another, showcasing the beauty of our diverse perspectives.

Discussion · Q2

Some people think that looking for excitement is important for a happy life. What do you think about this idea?

I absolutely agree that seeking excitement is a vital component of a fulfilling life. Life can sometimes become monotonous, and it's those moments of spontaneous adventure that really add flavor to our experiences. Whether it's trying out a new hobby, traveling to a place we've never been, or even just stepping out of our comfort zones, these experiences can lead to personal growth and a deeper appreciation for life. Moreover, embracing excitement fosters lasting memories that we cherish, which can significantly enhance our overall happiness. In essence, while routine has its place, it’s the thrill of the unexpected that often makes life truly worthwhile.

Discussion · Q3

How important do you think exciting experiences are in shaping a person's character and future choices?

I believe that thrilling experiences play a crucial role in shaping both a person's character and their future decisions. When individuals engage in activities that push their limits, it often leads to enhanced self-confidence and resilience. For instance, someone who has gone skydiving might discover a newfound appreciation for taking risks, which could influence their career choices or personal relationships. Furthermore, these experiences can foster a sense of adventure and open-mindedness, encouraging people to step outside their comfort zones. Ultimately, the lessons learned from such exhilarating moments can be transformative, paving the way for a more fulfilling life.

Discussion · Q4

Why do you think some people are more likely to look for thrilling experiences than others?

I believe the inclination to seek out exciting experiences often stems from personality traits and life experiences. For instance, individuals with a natural propensity for adventure may have a deep-rooted need for novelty and stimulation, which drives them to explore the unknown. Additionally, those who have grown up in environments that encourage risk-taking and outdoor activities might develop a stronger appetite for excitement. On the other hand, some people may find comfort in routine and predictability, preferring to stick to familiar activities that provide a sense of safety and security. Ultimately, it's fascinating how our backgrounds and temperaments can shape our desires for adventure!

Discussion · Q5

How do you think exciting experiences might change in the future, especially with new technology?

I believe that the nature of exciting experiences will undergo a profound transformation due to rapid advancements in technology. For instance, virtual reality is already creating immersive environments that allow people to explore distant lands or even entire galaxies from the comfort of their homes. In the future, we might see even more sophisticated interactive experiences that blend the physical and digital worlds, making adventures not only accessible but also incredibly exhilarating. Additionally, the rise of artificial intelligence could lead to tailored experiences where activities are customized to suit individual preferences, enhancing the thrill even further. Overall, I think technology will redefine what we consider to be exciting, pushing the boundaries of imagination and adventure.

Discussion · Q6

What steps can we take to make sure people can enjoy fun activities safely?

To ensure that people have opportunities to engage in exciting experiences safely, a multifaceted approach is essential. Firstly, increasing public awareness about safety protocols is crucial; this could be achieved through community workshops or online campaigns. Additionally, collaborating with local businesses to create safe adventure packages can provide structured experiences while ensuring proper safety measures are in place. Moreover, implementing stringent regulations for adventure activities, such as regular safety inspections and mandatory training for operators, can greatly enhance safety standards. Ultimately, by combining education, regulation, and community involvement, we can create a vibrant environment where excitement and safety go hand in hand.
