4 to 5 minutes. The examiner asks about you and familiar topics.
Can you tell me your full name?
Where are you from?
Do you work or are you a student?
In your country, do people use boats?
Yes, in my country, people definitely use boats. It's a popular pastime, especially during the warmer months.
What do they use boats for?
People use boats for all sorts of things, such as fishing, leisurely cruising, or water sports like wakeboarding or water skiing. It really just depends on the individual's personal interests.
Would you like to own a boat?
I must admit, I've always been fascinated by the idea of owning a boat. There's just something so peaceful and exhilarating about being out on the water. So yes, I would definitely like to own a boat someday.
Would you shop online or in a store for a boat?
Well, it really depends on the size and type of boat I was looking for. If it was something small and simple, I might be more inclined to shop online. But if it was a larger, more complex purchase, I would probably prefer to go to a store to see the boat in person and ask questions of a salesperson.
Do you enjoy watching sport on TV? [Why/Why not?
?] Absolutely! I am a huge sports fan and watching my favorite teams and players compete on TV is always an exciting experience for me. I love the energy and intensity of the games, and the thrill of watching a close match come down to the final minutes is always exhilarating. Plus, watching on TV allows me to see the best teams and players from around the world, which is something I wouldn't be able to do if I only watched live events. 2. Have you ever been to watch a live sports event [e.g. **in a stadium]?[Why/Why not**?] Yes, I have been to several live sports events in my life. I've been to football, basketball, and baseball games in stadiums, and it's always an incredible experience. Seeing the players up close, feeling the energy of the crowd, and experiencing the atmosphere of the stadium is something that can't be replicated on TV. I'm a huge fan of live events because it makes me feel like a part of the action and it's an amazing way to connect with other sports fans.
Is there a sports event you might like to watch in the future? [Why/Why not?

The atmosphere and the passion of the fans is something that I've always wanted to experience, and I think it would be an unforgettable moment. I would love to see the best players from around the world compete on the biggest stage, and being there in person would be something truly special.
Do you think it's more enjoyable to watch sports alone or with other people? [Why/Why not?
?] I think it's more enjoyable to watch sports with other people. Watching sports is always a social experience for me, and I love discussing the games and the players with my friends and family. During this memorable trip, I was accompanied by my parents, siblings, and cousins. Being surrounded by my loved ones in such a serene environment added to the happiness of the experience. Part 3 · Discussion
4 to 5 minutes. The examiner asks broader questions linked to the cue card topic.
How can happy experiences in childhood be different from those in adulthood?
That's a fascinating question! The nature of happy experiences in childhood often revolves around simple pleasures and innocent joys, like playing with friends or enjoying a sunny day at the park. Children find happiness in the little things, often driven by their imagination and curiosity about the world. In contrast, adulthood tends to bring more complex emotions and experiences; happiness might stem from personal achievements or the fulfillment of long-term goals. Adults often seek deeper connections and meaningful relationships, which can lead to a different kind of happiness that’s more reflective and nuanced. Ultimately, while both stages of life can bring joy, the sources and nature of that happiness seem to shift significantly as we grow older.
Some people think that what we go through as kids affects how happy we are later in life. What do you think about this?
I absolutely agree that childhood experiences play a pivotal role in shaping our future happiness. The formative years are when we first learn about relationships, emotional regulation, and resilience. Positive experiences, like a nurturing family environment or supportive friendships, can instill a sense of self-worth and optimism that lasts a lifetime. Conversely, negative experiences can lead to challenges in adulthood, such as anxiety or difficulty in forming connections. Ultimately, it’s fascinating how those early moments can echo throughout our lives, influencing our perceptions and decisions as we grow older.
How do happy childhood memories help a person feel better in life as they grow older?
Joyful memories from childhood can significantly enhance a person's overall well-being as they provide a foundation of happiness and resilience. When individuals reflect on cherished moments, they often experience a rush of positive emotions, which can serve as a powerful emotional anchor during challenging times. Moreover, these memories can foster a sense of identity and belonging, as they remind us of our roots and the people who shaped our early experiences. Additionally, recalling happy moments can encourage a more optimistic outlook on life, enabling individuals to cope better with stress and adversity. Ultimately, these joyful recollections not only enrich our present but also lay the groundwork for a fulfilling future.
Why do you think some childhood memories stay clear and important as we get older?
I believe certain childhood memories stick with us because they often represent pivotal moments or experiences that shape our identities. For instance, first-time experiences like riding a bike or going to school can evoke strong emotions, which makes them more likely to be remembered. Additionally, these memories are typically associated with a sense of wonder and discovery, making them stand out in our minds. The emotional weight attached to these experiences, combined with the vibrant imagery our young minds create, helps preserve them over time. Ultimately, they become a part of our personal narratives, reminding us of who we were and how we've grown.
How could our view of happiness in childhood change as society develops?
That's a fascinating question! As society evolves, the way we perceive happiness in childhood is likely to shift significantly. In the past, children's happiness often stemmed from simple pleasures, like playing outdoors or spending time with family. However, in today's fast-paced, technology-driven world, children might equate happiness with access to digital entertainment or social media validation. Moreover, as we become more aware of mental health issues, there’s a growing emphasis on emotional well-being, which could lead children to recognize that happiness isn't just about fleeting moments of joy, but also involves resilience and coping mechanisms. This evolution might foster a richer understanding of happiness, encouraging children to pursue deeper connections and experiences rather than just surface-level enjoyment.
What can parents do to make their kids happier?
Parents can adopt a variety of approaches to cultivate joyful experiences for their children. One effective method is to prioritize quality time, engaging in activities that both the parents and children enjoy, such as family outings or game nights. This not only fosters stronger bonds but also creates lasting memories filled with laughter and fun. Additionally, encouraging creativity through arts and crafts or music can significantly enhance a child’s emotional well-being, allowing them to express themselves freely. Lastly, parents should also promote an environment of exploration and discovery, where children feel safe to ask questions and embark on new adventures, igniting their natural curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
