Introduction

Introduce the topic of mandatory charitable donations. State clear disagreement.

The idea that all citizens should be mandated to contribute a specific portion of their earnings to charitable causes is a controversial one. I strongly disagree with the notion that such donations should be made compulsory.

Body 1

Argue that charity must be voluntary. Explain how forcing it turns an act of kindness into a tax and creates resentment.

The primary reason for my opposition is that the very nature of charity is based on voluntary giving and personal altruism. When the government forces individuals to give away their money, it ceases to be an act of kindness and becomes another form of taxation. This could lead to a sense of resentment among the public, potentially damaging the genuine spirit of philanthropy that exists in society. Individuals should have the freedom to decide which causes they care about and how much they can afford to give, rather than being dictated to by the state.

Body 2

Discuss the financial impact on low-income earners. Explain how mandatory payments cause hardship and suggest tax incentives as a better alternative.

Furthermore, mandatory donations could place an unfair financial burden on lower-income households. Many people already struggle to cover their basic living expenses, such as housing, healthcare, and education. Forcing these individuals to donate a fixed percentage of their income could push them further into financial hardship. Instead of making donations mandatory, governments should focus on creating economic conditions where people feel secure enough to give willingly. They could also provide better tax incentives for those who do choose to support charities, which encourages generosity without removing personal choice.

Conclusion

Restate disagreement. Summarize that charity is a personal choice and mandatory systems are financially unfair.

In conclusion, I disagree that everyone should be forced to donate a fixed amount to charity. This is because charity should always be a choice, and mandatory payments would cause financial stress for those who are already struggling.
