The table illustrates the proportion of students who were homeschooled in a certain country over a five-year period from 1999 to 2004.
Overall, it is clear that homeschooling became increasingly popular over the time frame given, with a particularly noticeable surge in the final year. The proportion of homeschooled students in all age groups rose, with the most significant increases seen in the youngest and oldest age categories.
In 1999, only 1.6% of students aged 5-9 were homeschooled, but this figure had almost tripled to 4.5% by 2004. Similarly, the percentage of homeschooled students aged 14-18 also saw a substantial rise, from 1.8% in 1999 to 3.4% in 2004, almost doubling over the five-year period.
Conversely, while the proportion of homeschooled students aged 10-13 also increased, the rise was less dramatic. In 1999, 1.9% of students in this age group were homeschooled, which increased to 2.6% in 2004, representing a smaller growth compared to the other age groups.
