The provided illustrations depict the proportion of individuals owning computers from 2002 to 2010, as well as the distribution of computer ownership based on educational attainment for the years 2002 and 2010.
From a general perspective, it is clear that computer ownership rose significantly over the eight-year period. Furthermore, individuals with higher levels of education were more likely to own a computer.
In 2002, just over half the population owned a computer, but this figure had risen to nearly three-quarters by 2010. The most dramatic increase was seen between 2006 and 2008. In terms of educational attainment, in both 2002 and 2010, those with a postgraduate degree were the most likely to own a computer, with figures of around 80% and nearly 100% respectively.
Interestingly, in 2002, there was only a slight difference in computer ownership between those with no high school diploma and those with a high school diploma. However, by 2010, this gap had widened significantly, with nearly twice as many high school graduates owning a computer compared to those without a high school diploma.
