A general overview of the data reveals that consumer spending was highest on food, drinks and tobacco in Turkey and Ireland, whereas clothing and footwear had the most significant portion of expenditure in Italy. It is also noticeable that Sweden had the lowest spending in all categories among the five countries.
Looking at the details, Turkey had the highest expenditure on food, drinks and tobacco, accounting for 32.14% of their spending. Ireland was not far behind with 28.91%. In contrast, Sweden's spending on these items was only 15.77%, the lowest among all the countries. Italy and Spain had similar spending on these items, with 16.36% and 18.80% respectively.
As for clothing and footwear, Italy led the spending with 9% of their total expenditure. Spain followed with 6.51%, while the remaining countries spent less than 5% on these items. Notably, Sweden's spending on clothing and footwear was the lowest at 3.37%.
