The bar charts illustrate the proportion of involvement in education and science in both developing and industrialised nations in the years 1980 and 1990.
A general overview of the charts reveals that industrialised countries had a higher rate of participation in education and science compared to developing nations during both years. Furthermore, there was a noticeable increase in participation levels in all areas over the decade in question.
In 1980, approximately 80% of the population in industrialised countries were engaged in education, which rose to just over 90% by 1990. Similarly, the percentage of people involved in science in these countries increased from around 30% to just under 40% over the same period. However, the rates in developing countries were significantly lower, with less than 40% participation in education and a mere 10% in science in 1980.
By 1990, the participation rates in developing countries had improved, reaching approximately 50% in education and slightly over 20% in science. Despite this increase, the figures were still considerably lower than those of the industrialised nations.
