The line graph illustrates the alterations in the highest population of Asian elephants over a thirteen-year period from 1994 to 2007.
The general trend observed from the graph indicates a fluctuating yet overall decline in the number of Asian elephants. It is also noticeable that there was a significant drop in the population towards the end of the period.
In 1994, the elephant population was at its peak, with approximately 85,000 elephants. However, this number saw a gradual decline over the next six years, reaching its lowest point around 2000 with just over 40,000 elephants. Post this, the population experienced a brief period of recovery, increasing to about 65,000 by 2003.
After 2003, there was a sharp decrease in the elephant population, with the numbers plummeting to a mere 45,000 by 2007. This was the most significant decline in the graph, marking a drastic reduction in the population of Asian elephants within a span of four years.
