The bar chart illustrates the proportion of women employed in three different sectors in Greece over a 25-year period from 1990 to 2015.
Overall, it is clear that the percentage of women in all three sectors increased over the period. The most significant increase was observed in the public sector, while the private sector saw the smallest rise.
In 1990, the percentage of women in the public sector was around 40%, which rose steadily to reach just over 70% in 2015. Similarly, in the non-profit sector, the proportion of female employees increased from approximately 50% in 1990 to around 65% in 2015.
In contrast, the private sector saw a more modest increase. In 1990, women made up about 35% of the workforce in this sector. This figure rose slightly to reach just under 50% by the end of the period. Despite this increase, the private sector remained the one with the lowest proportion of female employees in 2015.
