At a glance, it is clear that the number of both types of restaurants experienced an upward trend over the period. However, the number of franchised restaurants was consistently higher than that of own operated ones throughout the years.
In 2007, the number of franchised restaurants stood at about 2,000, which was roughly double the number of own operated ones at approximately 1,000. Over the next five years, both types of restaurants saw a steady increase in numbers. By 2012, the number of franchised restaurants had risen to just over 3,000, while the number of own operated restaurants had grown to around 1,800.
Interestingly, the rate of growth for own operated restaurants was slightly faster than that of franchised ones. This can be seen in the fact that the number of own operated restaurants increased by about 80% over the period, compared to a rise of approximately 50% for franchised restaurants.
