4 to 5 minutes. The examiner asks about you and familiar topics.

Introduction · Q1

Can you tell me your full name?

Introduction · Q2

Where are you from?

Introduction · Q3

Do you work or are you a student?

Daily Routine · Q1

What do you usually do in the mornings [before starting your work or studies]?

In the mornings, I usually take some time to wake up and get my bearings before starting my day. I like to have a cup of coffee and maybe do some light stretches or meditation to help me feel more energized and focused. After that, I'll usually spend some time checking my email and going over my schedule for the day.

Daily Routine · Q2

Do you prefer to go to bed early or late? [Why/Why not?

?] I prefer to go to bed early, as I find that I function better with a full night's sleep. I find that when I stay up late, I'm more prone to making mistakes and feeling less productive the next day. That being said, there are certainly times when I'll stay up later for social or personal reasons, but overall I try to prioritize getting enough rest.

Daily Routine · Q3

Do you like to do the same things every weekend? [Why/Why not?

?] It really depends on my mood and what's going on in my life. Some weekends, I might feel like being more spontaneous and trying something new, while other times I might prefer to stick to my usual routine. I think it's important to mix things up and keep things interesting, but it's also nice to have some predictability and stability in our lives.

Daily Routine · Q4

Is your daily routine going to change in the future? [Why/Why not?

?] It's hard to say for certain, as life can be unpredictable and things can change unexpectedly. That being said, I'm always open to trying new things and making changes to my routine if I feel like it would be beneficial for me. For example, if I started a new job or moved to a new place, my daily routine would likely change to some degree. Ultimately, it's important to be adaptable and open to new experiences.

Amusement Parks · Q1

Do you like going to amusement parks?

? Oh yeah, I absolutely love going to amusement parks. **There's just something so thrilling about all the rides and games, you know**?

Amusement Parks · Q2

How often do you go to amusement parks?

? I don't go as often as I'd like, but probably a few times a year. It's always a special treat to go, so I try to make the most of it when I do.

Amusement Parks · Q3

What do you usually do at amusement parks?

? Well, I usually start off by trying out all the big thrill rides, and then I like to check out some of the games and maybe grab a bite to eat. And of course, I always try to take a spin on the carousel at least once.

Amusement Parks · Q4

Would you like to take you children to amusement parks in the future?

? Absolutely! I can't wait to take my kids to an amusement park and share that excitement with them. It's just such a fun and memorable experience, and I'm sure they'll love it as much as I do.

214 words · 4 paragraphs
Point 1

What is the thing

I would like to talk about my smartphone, a device I cannot imagine living without in today's digital age. My smartphone has become an indispensable part of my daily life, and I use it constantly throughout the day for various purposes.

Point 2

How often do you use it

I use my smartphone for a wide range of activities, such as staying connected with family and friends through calls and messages, managing my schedule with the calendar app, accessing information and news online, and even for entertainment like watching videos or playing games. It serves as a one-stop solution for almost all my communication and information needs.

Point 3

Why is it important to you

The reason my smartphone is so important to me is that it enhances my productivity, keeps me informed and entertained, and allows me to stay connected with the world around me. With the convenience of having everything I need in one compact device, I feel more efficient and connected in both my personal and professional life.

Point 4

How would your life be affected if you didn't have it

If I didn't have my smartphone, my life would be significantly impacted. I would struggle to stay in touch with my loved ones, manage my daily tasks efficiently, access important information on-the-go, and even entertain myself during leisure time. The absence of my smartphone would make me feel isolated and disconnected from the fast-paced world we live in today.

Part 3 · Discussion

4 to 5 minutes. The examiner asks broader questions linked to the cue card topic.

Discussion · Q1

How can the importance of this key item change in different cultures?

The significance of essential items can vary immensely across different cultures, as they often carry unique meanings and values. For instance, while a broadly valued item like rice is a staple food in many Asian cultures, in other places, such as the Middle East, bread holds that same level of importance. Additionally, items like clothing can also reflect cultural identity; for example, traditional garments like the kimono in Japan or the sari in India symbolize cultural heritage and social norms. This rich diversity in the significance of items illustrates not just practical needs but also the deeply ingrained values and traditions that shape how communities view the world around them.

Discussion · Q2

How much do you think people care about their belongings?

I believe that people can feel quite deeply attached to their material possessions, and this attachment often stems from personal experiences and memories associated with those items. For instance, a family heirloom or a gift from a loved one can hold significant sentimental value, making it much more than just an object. However, the extent of this attachment can vary widely among individuals; some may prioritize experiences over possessions, while others find comfort in their belongings. Ultimately, I think this emotional connection to material items reflects our desire for stability and continuity in an ever-changing world. It's fascinating how something physical can encapsulate our feelings and memories, isn't it?

Discussion · Q3

How does this item make people's everyday lives better?

Absolutely, the item we're discussing can significantly enhance people's daily lives in several ways. Firstly, it improves efficiency by streamlining tasks that would otherwise take much longer to complete. For instance, through automation, individuals can achieve more in less time, allowing them to focus on other important aspects, like spending time with family or pursuing hobbies. Additionally, this item fosters connectivity, enabling people to communicate and collaborate effortlessly, regardless of geographical barriers. Ultimately, its role in enhancing convenience and accessibility cannot be overstated, as it truly transforms mundane routines into more enjoyable and manageable experiences.

Discussion · Q4

Why do you think some people can get by without things that others see as necessary?

That's a fascinating question! I think the ability to manage without certain items often comes down to personal values and priorities. For instance, some people might place a higher value on experiences rather than material possessions, so they feel perfectly content without the latest gadgets or luxury items. Others might have cultivated a sense of minimalism, finding joy in simplicity and focusing on what truly matters to them. Additionally, cultural background can play a significant role; in some cultures, being resourceful and making do with less is highly valued, which can shape an individual’s perspective on what is truly essential. Ultimately, it's a reflection of how diverse our needs and desires can be!

Discussion · Q5

How could new technology in the future change how we use important items?

Future advancements in technology are likely to revolutionize our relationship with essential items in numerous ways. For starters, with the rise of smart technology, everyday objects like fridges and washing machines could become more interconnected and intuitive, ultimately streamlining our daily tasks. Imagine a fridge that not only tracks inventory but also suggests recipes based on what you have at home! Furthermore, advancements in sustainability, such as biodegradable materials, could shift our perception of waste and encourage a more eco-conscious lifestyle. Overall, these innovations could foster a deeper appreciation for the items we rely on, transforming them from mere necessities into valuable allies in our daily lives.

Discussion · Q6

What steps can be taken to help people depend less on specific belongings?

To help individuals become less reliant on certain possessions, I believe fostering a mindset of minimalism could be incredibly effective. This can be achieved through educational programs that emphasize the value of experiences over material goods. Additionally, encouraging community engagement, such as swapping or sharing events, can help people realize that they don’t need to own everything to enjoy them. Another important measure could be promoting the idea of sustainable living, where people learn to appreciate what they have and reduce unnecessary consumption. By creating a culture that celebrates simplicity and resourcefulness, we can inspire individuals to reassess their relationship with their possessions.
